Your new role

As Vice President, you’ll be the strategic architect behind Novo Nordisk’s diabetes portfolio and growth trajectory. You will collaborate across value chain to shape, develop and execute therapy area strategies across T1D, T2D, and cardiorenal to identifying game-changing innovations and insights, you’ll shape decisions that span from early pipeline through to commercial launch and lifecycle management.

As Vice President, Diabetes& Strategic Projects and Early Pipeline, you will be a member of the leadership team of Diabetes& unit in Product & Portfolio Strategy, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Diabetes&, and will be based in Soborg, Denmark.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

– leading the strategic project teams to develop, shape and execute on key impactful projects that can deliver growth for the area.

– shaping, developing and executing therapy area strategies (T1D, T2D, cardiorenal) that define short, mid, and long-term business objectives, collaborating with the obesity therapy area and portfolio units ensuring portfolio prioritization and focus

– Identifying and evaluating strategic commercial or other relevant partnership opportunities, and acquisitions with the BD group to enhance pipeline, business capabilities and market reach

– Overseeing new product development initiatives, collaborating with R&D, strategic marketing, and sales teams to ensure differentiated product profiles and successful launches

– Leading cross-functional collaboration across Commercial, R&D, Finance, and regions to integrate business strategies and drive strategic decision-making

– Driving commercial insights and working with pricing strategy with the pricing and access team for alignment across phase 2 and 3, optimizing revenue generation and maintaining competitive advantage

– Serving as a key member of the Diabetes Leadership Team and TAPG (Therapy Area Planning Group), representing the function in high-level negotiations and presenting to senior leadership on strategic dilemmas and trade-offs

 

Your new department

In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness.

Within the Diabetes & Strategic Projects and Early Pipeline team, you will lead a talented group of professionals who are reshaping how we approach growth in one of our most critical therapy areas. Your department sits at the heart of strategic decision-making, working in close partnership with regions, key countries, executive management, and global functions to ensure clear prioritization, evidence generation approaches, and volume and value growth strategies that bring life-changing treatments to patients faster.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We’re seeking an exceptional strategic leader who thrives in complexity and can translate vision into actionable results.

You will bring:

– A minimum of 10+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or related fields, with a proven track record in identifying and executing growth opportunities

– Significant leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and negotiating high-value partnerships at a senior level

– Deep business acumen with expertise in market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and financial principles across commercial strategy, pricing, and sales channels

– Exceptional strategic vision coupled with the ability to craft compelling long-term plans and inspire diverse stakeholders to execute them effectively

– Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data, prioritize investments, and assess new product development viability

– Excellent negotiation and partnership development capabilities, including structuring financial arrangements, intellectual property agreements, and customer-sharing models

– A global perspective with understanding of international markets, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances, particularly across USA, China, Japan, EU5, Canada, and Brazil

– Outstanding communication and influence skills to articulate complex ideas persuasively to senior executives, partners, and cross-functional teams

– A results-oriented mindset with proven ability to drive measurable outcomes and deliver on ambitious growth targets

– Scientific/medical background (e.g., PhD) to support the bridge between commercial strategy and early pipeline/R&D 

– Specialty care experience (e.g., diabetes, cardio-renal, cardiovascular) 

– AI/advanced analytics capability (strong plus)

– Build an accountable, motivating culture by empowering teams and demonstrating NNWay leadership (integrity, collaboration, and strong performance standards). 

– Enable strategy and drive impact by translating priorities into measurable execution while fostering curiosity, continuous learning, and patient- and society-focused innovation.
