Job description

This is a genuinely fantastic opportunity to work for one of the most prestigious EU Institutions in Amsterdam, Netherlands.We are on the lookout for an exceptional Technical Architect – JAVA with at least 12 years of experience, plus a Bachelor’s degree*Note* Working from home will be likely be required initially. However, you would be expected to work full time on-site after the travel restrictions are lifted.

• Configures software and tests platform-specific versions of one or more software products; Reports the outcome of testing and identifies potential improvements to the process and to the software products according to agreed designs/requirements.
• Experience working with key users in a fast paced and changing business environment to design and develop software that meets business need.
• Experience of the full development lifecycle of complex large scale and multi-user applications.
• Production of the relevant technical documentation, such as system designs, class designs and documentation for the support team.
• Capacity to assist the support team in training the users of the system.
• A strong technical background, specifically the delivery of complex software systems.
• Knowledge in IT Service Management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems / Systems Engineering or similar
• Min.12 years of experience in IT (including higher studies)
• Min. 8 years of working experience with iterative and waterfall development.
• Strong knowledge of application platforms (e.g. Portal/Content Management, Documentum/ Document management, Identity & Access Management Systems, Workflow/Case management Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, Master Data Management and Unified Communications);
• Experience using agile software development methodologies (i.e. Kanban, Scrum and other lean techniques) and relevant principles.
• Experience in Objective Oriented Analysis & Design (OOA&D) with UML (Unified Modelling Language)
• Analytically oriented to establish root cause of defects and incidents.

Specific Mandatory experience on the following is required:

• Proven experience of Test first development approach
• Proven experience of REST API development
• Mastery of the Java Enterprise Edition specifications and the Java language. Knowledge in other OOP languages would be an asset
• Very good knowledge of the Spring framework
• Experience in designing robust, multi-threaded and distributed systems
• Excellent knowledge of the reactive programming paradigm
• Agile techniques and principles
• Knowledge of OWASP secure coding guidelines
• Excellent knowledge of Angular framework and user interface development using Angular

Desirable:

• Experience with Azure components
• Continuous build and integration, unit testing and code quality metrics

Excellent verbal and written skills in English is required
