Research Technician

The roleThe School of Chemistry is seeking to appoint a Research Technician to an open ended with fixed funding for two years contract. The appointment starts in December 2024 or as soon as possible. The post-holder will contribute to research by applying pre-agreed analytical approaches to biogeochemically characterise archaeological and modern samples, and gathering/manipulating routine data, with regular pre-agreed deadlines. The post-holder will also provide technical support in the routine running of laboratory operations including the use of specialised equipment, risk assessment, safe handling, storage and waste disposal of chemicals.What will you be doing?The post-holder will carry out experimental techniques using pre-agreed sample preparation and wet chemistry protocols. They will carry out specialised techniques (including GC, GC-MS, HT-GC-MS, GC-C-IRMS and GC-TC-IRMS). The post-holder will gather and manipulate routine data so that others can interpret it.
