Offer DescriptionThe I2M laboratory in Bordeaux offers a research project aimed at contributing to the development of approaches and tools for characterization and modeling integrated into the design of complex structures in uncertain environments. Technological choices made in the preliminary design phases play a crucial role in production cycles and costs. The introduction of structures designed from multi-materials with complex mechanical behaviors poses challenges in terms of modeling and evaluation, leading to high development risks and costs.
The objective of the research project is to guide designers’ choices by proposing a rationalization of experimental campaigns associated with the early design phases in a context of significant uncertainty. To achieve this, the thesis work will focus on optimizing characterization and modeling strategies. Key challenges will include identifying and representing uncertainties, deploying analytical, numerical, or semi-analytical modeling, propagating uncertainties, and integrating them into the design cycle of structures.
The project will build on developments already carried out within the I2M Institute, with a particular focus on decision support in uncertain environments. The developed approaches will be applied to modeling choices for a composite reservoir intended for hydrogen storage, with potential applications in the field of intervertebral implant design.
