HMP Five Wells is a privately run Category C men’s prison. At full capacity, the prison can house 1,680 residents, making it one of the largest prisons in the UK. In partnership with G4S, RESTART (part of the Weston College Group) has been awarded the prestigious contract to establish the education department in the newly built state-of-the-art prison. It provides exceptional opportunities for residents to gain nationally recognised qualifications, in preparation for securing purposeful employment upon release. The education department offers a range of Academic, Vocational and Creative courses.

We’re now seeking a Lecturer to deliver high-quality curriculum delivering Learning Engagement courses, or an alternative as led by the Restart management team.

Developing a positive learner experience on all courses, you’ll complete all relevant administration work relating to your sessions, such as lesson planning, registers, learner enrolment and marking. You’ll enrich learning through additional projects and actively market and promote Prison Education and recruit learners to courses.

About you

  • Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification, which is appropriate to the role.
  • Have proven industry experience.
  • Have excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be computer literate, including an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Be highly motivated and set high standards for self and others.
  • Have previous teaching experience and be able to provide extra support to learners with LDD needs (desirable).
  • A recognised teaching qualification is not essential, as long as you are prepared to achieve one (with the help of Weston College), within the first two years of employment.
