Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 2 December 2024This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and non-bureaucratic health and safety professional to support the delivery of the health and safety management system as a member of the diverse Wellbeing, Safety and Health Service. This full-time post is appointed at a service level and will be based on campus, supporting and delivering health and safety risk management initiatives across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. You will report into the Senior Health and Safety Manager to the faculty and the Faculty of Environment.You will provide effective and proportionate advice and use your previous experience of delivering a safety management system to include training, auditing and the implementation of integrated electronic systems. The role will also require you to undertake inspections of research and teaching laboratories, deliver of face-to-face training to Faculty Staff and Postgraduate Students, attendance at School and Faculty meetings, as well as helping Staff and Students with their risk assessments.You need to be able to work collaboratively with a range of academic and professional services colleagues. You must be able to apply your health and safety knowledge into safe working practices for a complex environment which includes teaching and research laboratories, workshops and a range of off campus activities. This includes some sensitive and commercial research areas. You also need to be able to advise on offsite working including UK and international travel and seasonal scientific fieldwork. You should be willing to carry out routine jobs such as facilitating staff to complete online mandatory safety training and have the ability to collate management information including document control.What we offer in return:
