Offer DescriptionMaterials modelling group at Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology is offering a 1.5-year postdoctoral research position in the field of materials science. We are seeking a motivated and skilled researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research, utilizing theoretical and computational methods to investigate the precipitation strengthening in multicomponent Al-Mg-Si-Ag alloys. The postdoc will be responsible for developing and implementing theoretical models using density functional theory, cluster expansion methods, and Monte Carlo simulations. The research aims to understand the impact of vacancies, temperature, and chemical composition on the stability of precipitates and atomic ordering in aluminium alloys. • to have completed higher education with a master’s degree or equivalent
• to have a PhD degree
• to have a very good command of English
• to have a scientific profile related to the specialization of the Department/ Division

Specific Requirements

• to have a knowledge of problems relevant to materials science and engineering, especially those relevant to aluminum alloys;
• to have a knowledge of ab initio methods based on density functional theory, statistical mechanics and thermodynamics;
• to be able to work with programs for ab initio calculations, data analysis programs and knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C++, Python);
• to have an experience in writing and publishing scientific works in JCR journals
