Job description

Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is searching to hire an academic project manager (Postdoc) for the seizmic doctoral network, a 4-year interdisciplinary research project, funded by the MSCA Horizon 2020 programme. The position should ideally be filled by 1st October 2024 or as soon after that as possible. The Postdoc will support 15 PhD positions across nine European universities and coordinate their research into how to overcome the barriers to external scaling of social enterprises. The project manager will oversee the day-to-day management of the doctoral network, ensuring timely completion of project activities, milestones, and deliverables. The Postdoc will coordinate with PhD students and their supervisors, as well as their respective non-academic partners across multiple institutions, ensuring that each PhD student not only delivers high quality research, but also lives up to the MSCA requirements of mobility (via secondments at seizmic universities as well as secondments with non-academic partners). The Postdoc will interact primarily with the seizmic principal investigator, as well as the senior academics leading the diverse work packages.In particular the project manager will:

• manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• ensure compliance with MSCA European Commission standards.
• facilitate regular communication & meetings with PhDs and supervisors.
• coordinate network training sessions (summer universities and virtual workshops).
• implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans for potential delays.
• engage with stakeholders, including policymakers, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors, to disseminate project findings and foster collaboration.
• report project progress to the MSCA European Commission contact point.

In addition to acting as a project manager for the seizmic doctoral network the Postdoc will join in research efforts in collaboration with the PhDs and their supervisors. The Postdoc will also be able to continue work on their existent research interest and publications. The position can include a minor teaching load, that will negotiated in relation to the interest of the candidate.Research Objectives of the Doctoral NetworkThe project will develop an interdisciplinary theoretical framework explaining the factors influencing SE scaling through replication and imitation.

• It will evaluate the impact of social entrepreneurship business model design on scaling outcomes, combining quantitative and qualitative assessments. The focus is on identifying design competencies that facilitate scalability and examining how factors like social forecasting and impact measurement support scaling.
• Furthermore, the project will investigate the intentions and actual outcomes of impact investors in supporting SE scaling in Europe. This involves longitudinal case studies to understand how impact investments contribute to scaling, replication, and imitation of SE initiatives, highlighting competencies needed by impact investors.
• Next, the seizmic doctoral network will develop an interdisciplinary model for professional learning and curriculum development to enhance SE scaling. This includes training SE educators, conducting longitudinal trials of SE education, and assessing the role of feedback in supporting learning among social entrepreneurs, ultimately contributing to entrepreneurship education.
• Finally, the network will propose and test a theoretical model on the role of digital ecosystems in SE scaling, exploring bottom-up creativity, digital data politics, and collaborative networks. This also involves training and implementing an AI model specialized in SE scaling to compare the effectiveness of AI and human mentoring, as well as combined mentoring approaches.

Aurora is committed to equipping students with the skills and mindset to address key societal challenges through social entrepreneurship and innovation. Most SEIZMIC supervisors already know each other from developing (bachelor and master level) interdisciplinary social entrepreneurship courses for Aurora which they deliver in many cases jointly. This has created a close-knit community of interdisciplinary social entrepreneurship scholars, which we are certain will transfer into a highly collegial and effective doctoral network in which supervisors collaborate closely with each other across all Aurora partners. The seizmic project manager has access to the broader Aurora network and will be able to attend regular Aurora events (such as the biannual Aurora conference or any of the Aurora blended intensive programmes (BIP).Expected Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field such as social entrepreneurship, business management, finance, education, or technology management.
• Proven experience in managing large, interdisciplinary research projects (ideally European Commission projects).
• Great organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
• Ambitious research experience , ideally with a publication pipeline that is relevant to the seizmic research focus.
• Knowledge of social entrepreneurship and impact investing is highly desirable.
• Experience in the application of AI and digital tools in social sciences will be considered an asset.
