Writer in Residence

University of Wolverhampton

vacanciesineu.com

The Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research has achieved a stunning REF2021 result and the Creative and Professional Writing contribution played a central role in the submission. We want to build on the REF2021 result by stimulating Creative Writing research activities  with a view to growing CTTR’s research culture, visibility and reputation. It has long been an aim of the Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research to appoint a Writer in Residence in the School of Humanities as a way to stimulate students’ critical-creative thinking, expand learning and access to active and published writers outside of existing staff alongside promoting our ‘as you write it we’re writing too’ ethos instilled into our student community. The writer in residence will support the Humanities’ research activity and pedagogical delivery by offering a writing/research specialism that both complements CTTR research objectives and offers intellectual alternatives to existing staff expertise.

This semester-long residency requires the writer to add to our research-led teaching (in terms of their specific writing specialisms, knowledge of creative-critical theory), delivering a masterclass during Creative & Professional Writing’s Writing Week whilst being tasked to write a new original work (during the residency period) that responds to CTTR research aims and objectives and be presented to students and perhaps used in subsequent module(s).
