This work will contribute to ongoing significant investment in digital technology innovation with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the northwest of England: The Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI, ). As part of this project, you will work closely with an industry partner and receive support from the CDI team within the School of Computing that is working on R&D challenges that bridge between academia and industry.This opportunity is specifically looking for a candidate who can assist with the design and implementation of a bespoke web solution. The industry partner is looking to develop a web application which can help them with their social media coverage by maximising the reach and content to the audience on a regular basis’.This position is offered as part of a programme of opportunities for individuals and will be supervised by a member of the School of Computing CDI team. This opportunity is designed to give participants the experience of contributing to real-world research and development in collaboration with businesses.Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour plus £1.38 holiday payStart Date: 2nd October 2024End Date: 5th December 2024Working Pattern: VariedJob DescriptionWe are seeking a talented and motivated Web Application Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for cyber-security and AI and will play a crucial role in developing innovative web applications aimed at increasing sales through targeted social media strategies.· Develop and maintain web applications with a focus on cyber-security and AI.· Design and implement features to enhance sales by engaging customers via social media platforms.· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.· Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.· Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team.Person Specification· Proven experience in web application development, preferably with a focus on cyber-security and AI.· Strong knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.· Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Django).· Familiarity with social media APIs and analytics tools.· Excellent communication skills, and be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.· Ability to assess and evaluate business requirements and convert them into technological solutions.· Self-motivated and proactive.· Problem-solving skillsWorking in this role will help develop the following skills and experience:
