Job Summary The VP Manufacturing, Health&Biosciences Bioactives will lead Operations in all the H&B business unit. The incumbent needs to have extensive experience in Manufacturing Management, Safety, Sustainability, Quality and Supply Chain (Logistic, Planning and Customer Service). We are looking for a leader able to implement our Strategies through continuous improvement mindset with a strong focus on cost optimization. This role is accountable for execution and cultural transformation of a large network of sites with geographic and functional spread. Success in this position requires good understanding of Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Technologies, Finance, Market dynamics, R&D, key Raw Material Procurement, Regulatory and People.
In addition, it is critical to drive manufacturing footprint/asset optimization, capital management and partnership development to effectively support the growth of the business.Job DescriptionAs VP Manufacturing, H&B Bioactives, you will be responsible for Manufacturing network, Customer Service, Quality, Planning, Operational Excellence, Capital Engineering and Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S).You will be accountable for implementing manufacturing operations strategy in alignment with the company growth plan, as well as customer needs. You will ensure organizational development to reach the company goals, with a key focus on overall performance and productivity improvement.This includes reviewing our business strategy for the manufacturing network, focusing on long-term capacity planning, continuous improvement, and cultural transformation across numerous plants.You will report directly to the SVP OPS of the H&B Business Unit.The position should be preferably based at our Leiden, Netherlands site, or at one of our global manufacturing H&B sites.Key responsibilities
- Align with the SVP OPS of H&B on the strategy implementation to build capability and operational excellence (including People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost)
- Lead OpEx strategy implementation, including delivery of process improvement initiatives using the Continuous improvement methodologies to become best in class.
- Strategy Development/Renew and Execution. Manufacturing footprint optimization – plant construction, production rationalization. Portfolio optimization. Capital Investment Management.
- Execute transformation strategy of Integrated Supply chain, monitoring progress against targets and deadlines.
- Ensure appropriate implementation of the required tools to ensure inventory reduction and optimization at all plants under their responsibility.
- Accountable for coaching on Operational Excellence tools and techniques.
- Understand cross-functional customer organization and build relationships with key decision makers.
- Execute the Operations-related strategy: Quality, Safety, Sourcing, Digitalization, Automation, …
- Leadership and Coaching of plant managers to deliver/improve on safety, environmental, regulatory, quality, service and sustainability efforts / projects in all plants. To ensure that facilities act in compliance with IFF policies and procedures and with local, regional, state and country legal requirements.
- Culture change and people development. Lead and develop a global team, management of direct reports and ensuring the progressive and active management of personnel within team. Actively set performance objectives in alignment with the organizational goals and evaluate the delivery of individuals on those objectives.
You must have
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing;
- at least 15 years of experience in manufacturing (including Engineering, Plant Manufacturing Quality, Safety experience);
- Solid background as an operations senior leader, having a proven track record in efficiently implementing operational excellence initiatives and business improvement processes;
- Lean – and/or Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Demonstrated track record in delivering sustainable and significant results through continuous improvement in complex industrial environments
- Experience in global matrixed organizations, requiring the ability to collaborate cross functionally, lead through influence, and manage multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with ability to add value to C-suite level and a proven track record of developing, communicating, and creating buy in around business strategies
- Demonstrated understanding of financial metrics and drivers
- Proven track record of building and sustaining high-performance teams and culture.
