The Widening Participation Team is launching a new project, the Uncover Progress Programme (UP Programme). This programme is for Black-heritage pupils in Y12 and includes mentoring through our partner With Insight (https://www.withinsightedu.org/) and a residential launch event. The Widening Participation Team is very excited to partner with With Insight, who already run several highly successful mentoring programmes.Are you interested in inspiring more Black-heritage pupils to apply to top universities? If so, this is an amazing opportunity to support the next generation of pupils while giving you valuable experience to add to your CV.We are looking to employ a team of Student Mentors to be matched with Y12 pupils to lead the mentoring on this programme. The mentoring sessions will be online and last 2 hours a month. You will be given full training from With Insight on how to deliver and prepare a mentoring session.As there is level of role modelling within the mentoring programme we would like to encourage applications from Black-heritage students.The programme consists of monthly online sessions from March to November 2025 with the flexibility to fit them around your existing study schedule. Training will be held in February 2025.You will also be able to take part in the short launch residential in March 2025. As part of the residential launch you will be getting to know your mentees. This will be through team building activities, campus tours, and supporting with travel to Lancaster. All travel expenses will be covered.So, if you are committed to helping young people to shape their future and can offer a three – five hours per month please join our team.Full training and on-going support will be provided with the Widening Participation team and With Insight.
