Offer DescriptionResponsibilities:
The employee’s primary responsibilities will include:
– carrying out scholarly activities and improving his/her own scientific level,
– participating in the implementation of strategic plans in the discipline of Sociology and in the activity plans of the Department of Sociology,
– conducting scientific research financed by the subsidies and grants referred to in the Act,
– to disseminate and affiliate with Uni of Bialystok the results of scientific activity, in particular in the form of:
(a) scientific articles published in scientific journals and in peer-reviewed materials from international scientific conferences, included in the list of these journals and materials drawn up by the minister responsible for higher education and science,
b) scientific monographs published by publishing houses included in the list of such publishing houses drawn up by the minister in charge of higher education and science, as well as scientific editors of such monographs and chapters in such monographs,
– acquiring or implementing research and development projects financed from external sources, including the budget of the European Union, the National Centre of Science, the National Centre for Research and Development or the Foundation for Polish Science,
– cooperating with the University in the commercialisation of research or development results or know-how related to these results,
– performing, through the University, research services commissioned by entities not belonging to the system of higher education and science,
– teaching and educating students or participating in the education of doctoral students, in particular by:
(a) preparing and conducting teaching courses, as defined in the curricula of first-cycle and second-cycle degree programmes and uniform master’s degree programmes and the curricula of doctoral programmes and doctoral school, developing and conducting a series of classes in a foreign language for these forms of education, included in the teaching load,
b) other work related to the teaching process, in particular:
– conducting examinations, passes, colloquia or other forms of verification of the assumed learning outcomes, as well as participation in board examinations,
– taking part in the mid-term evaluation of the implementation of the individual research plan by the doctoral student,
– collecting and storing documentation confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, in accordance with the rules laid down in separate regulations,
– supervising the preparation of diploma theses by students, including checking the diploma thesis before the diploma examination with the use of the anti-plagiarism system,
– reviewing diploma theses and participating in committees conducting diploma examinations,
– conducting consultations of no less than 1 hour per week,
– taking care of students studying according to an Individual Study Programme,
– taking part in the teaching of classes,
– preparing and updating syllabuses for conducted classes,
– participating in the improvement of the teaching offer,
– performing the obligatory annual teaching load, i.e. the salary, and in special cases justified by the need to implement the curriculum, teaching overtime, in accordance with the applicable regulations,
– monitoring library resources with regard to the availability of literature recommended within the subject taught.Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Sociology Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018. (Journal of Laws 2023, item 742, as amended), as well as additional criteria, viz:
– have a doctoral degree in the social sciences,
– have scientific or teaching achievements:
(a) a scientific monograph published by a publishing house included in the list drawn up in accordance with the regulations issued pursuant to Article 267(2)(2)(a) of the Act, or a series of thematically related articles published in scientific journals, or peer-reviewed materials from international conferences which were included in the list drawn up in accordance with the regulations issued pursuant to Article 267(2)(2)(b) of the Act, or an academic textbook. An academic achievement which is the basis for the award of the doctoral degree or publications which are the basis for employment as an assistant professor may not be used as a basis for applying for the position of university professor,
b) participation in the work of research teams or at least a two-week internship in domestic scientific institutions, in foreign scientific institutions, or conducting scientific research or development work in universities or scientific institutions, including foreign ones,
c) active participation in international conferences,
– have achievements in the training of scientific staff:
a) acting as a supervisor or assistant supervisor in a doctoral thesis concluded with the award of a doctoral degree, or in proceedings for the award of a doctoral degree concluded with the award of a doctoral degree, or
b) acting as a reviewer in a doctoral dissertation, or in proceedings for the conferment of the degree of doctor, or acting as a reviewer in proceedings for the conferment of the degree of doctor habilitated, or participating in the work of a post-doctoral committee,
– have the competence to lead a research team,
– are able to demonstrate an ability to attract external funding, particularly grants,
– have a very good command of Polish and English (in the case of a foreigner, knowledge of Polish to an extent which makes it possible to teach),
– have organisational experience.Specific RequirementsRequired documents:

– a list of scientific publications (indicating the number of points and attaching a photocopy of the first page of the publication),

The competition will be resolved by 3 February 2025.
The Competition Committee will interview the candidate(s) who have met the formal conditions.
Information on the result of the competition, together with the justification, shall be posted by the head of the organisational unit in accordance with the provisions of § 91(5) of the Statutes of the University of Białystok.
In the event of a successful application, paper documents should be submitted immediately.
The competition may be closed or cancelled without selecting a candidate.
There is no right of appeal against the decision of the Competition Committee.
