OmschrijvingABOUT CHOICECHOICE for Youth and Sexuality (CHOICE) is a professional youth-led organization that advocates for the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of young people globally. CHOICE’s vision is that all young people have the power to make decisions about their sexual, reproductive & love lives!We firmly believe that young people should be able to make informed and personal decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Moreover, it is our core conviction that young people should participate meaningfully in decisions, policies and programs that affect their lives, particularly related to their SRHR. We mutually strengthen the capacity of young people and youth-led organizations, supporting them to be leaders and change-makers. We are intersectional feminists, and we aim to be sex-positive, courageous, playful, and supportive in all that we do.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Board is the governing body of CHOICE and has the final responsibility over the organizational development, continuity and monitoring of the The board shares the values and vision of CHOICE and carries this vision out, both externally and internally.The board is primarily Netherlands-based, with international members, in order to balance the representation of different contexts and viewpoints, while also engaging with the Dutch (legal) context.The board consists of 1 Chairperson, 1 Secretary, 1 Treasurer and 3 General Board members. Next to these roles, specific responsibilities and portfolios can shift among members based on interests, needs and strengths.Examples of portfolios are: finance, PMEL/MEAL, integrity and risks (including cybersecurity), human resources, strategic planning, fundraising, board accountability, diversity, equity and inclusion.The General Board member participates in the monthly Board Meetings and takes on different portfolios and organizational working groups, contributing meaningfully as an active member of the organization at General Meetings.PROFILE – WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?We are looking for two Netherlands-based general board members:Required competencies/skills (must have)

What do we offer?We offer a challenging position full of learning opportunities concerning non-profit governance and development cooperation. As a board member you have the chance to grow professionally and build a strong network. CHOICE provides the secretary/general board member with a training budget to develop or strengthen competences. A board member receives a small voluntary compensation (1900 euro per year, paid out quarterly) and is reimbursed for the expenses that they make for CHOICE-related activities.What do we expect from you?As a board member you fully support the Vision, Mission and Values of CHOICE and you see young people as equal partners. You have ambitions for yourself and the organization and are motivated to help CHOICE grow with your efforts and ideas.The board meets twice per month, once during our Board Meeting (BM) and once the week before this, during our BM prep. The General Board Member is expected to be prepared at the meetings and actively engage in ad-hoc responsibilities throughout the month, depending on required tasks.On average, the engagement amounts to 8-10 hours per week, though some weeks may be busier than others depending on the tasks you take on. The board members are flexible in engaging online throughout the week.A handover period will start on September 1st, and is finalized during our in-person Annual General Meeting from 27 to 29 September in Haarlem.
