Job Title: Training and Production Coordinator

Salary: £38,832 per annum + depending upon experience

Location: Wimborne, Dorset

About COGMD

Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne on the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District. Positioned centrally along the south coast, it is located close to national and international transport links.

With approximately 115 members of staff, there is a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years of manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. Genset packages ranging from 1.5 Litre to 7.1 Litre and 7.1 Litre propulsion engines are produced at the Wimborne site. The facility can boast a wealth of hugely experienced designers, engineers and technicians used to providing solutions for commercial, pleasure, and military customers. From the design, testing and building, each engine is proven before leaving the premises to ensure the best performance for the end-user.

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Training and Production Co-ordinator. The successful applicant will have exciting opportunities to develop the training programme and work directly with the shop floor in order to achieve business critical objectives. This role would suite a Trainer or Production Manager looking to develop additional skills.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure training matrix is suitable for the site, and that all employees/contractors are kept in date with their training requirements.

  • Organise and liaise with external training providers to ensure that our legal and corporate training responsibilities are in order.

  • Organise internal training, arranging managers and internal trainers to meet with staff to provide the training.

  • Run some internal training, including manual handling, induction training, and basic security requirements, for example.

  • Keep up to date with legislation to ensure that training is kept compliant.

  • Responsibility for keeping the training budget for the site.

  • Create internal training packages, working with managers and subject matter experts to create engaging content.

  • Track completion of training and issue certificates for all internal training. Keep sign-in logs and other evidence as proof of completion.

  • Complete ad-hoc duties in line with the job description on an occasional basis when required and requested by management.

  • Management of the Kronos time and attendance system

  • Management of the holiday approval process and associated spreadsheet/Kronos

  • Day to day chasing of parts/problem resolution on the shop floor.

  • Day to day management of team leads including 1-2-1’s, goal setting, performance management.

  • Upkeep of the daily metrics, including training completion rate.

  • Running of the end of shift meeting and updating spreadsheets driven by the end of shift data.

  • Lead Rapid Improvement Workshops.

  • Ensure products achieve delivery target of 100% on time.

Manufacturing Operations

  • Recognised apprenticeship or formal training record in an engine assembly environment or similar environment.

  • NVQ L3 or equivalent in a technical discipline.

  • A broad background in either manufacturing operations or logistics.

  • Previous experience in leading a team.

  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships with an ability to work well in a team.

Manufacturing Safety:

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.

  • Safety compliance.
