Job DescriptionThe Biologics Development department in Almirall is looking for a student that is going to help us establish analytical capabilities in our labs in our R&D centre in Barcelona!The main activities will involve setting-up and develop potency assays (ELISAs and Cell-based assays) and analytical methods for the characterization therapeutic antibodies.Also, the student will have the opportunity to collaborate with other activities related with Biologics Development and Drug Discovery.Desired knowledge and hand-on experience
- 1-2 years of experience in a cellular and molecular biology laboratory
- Cell culture, working with both cell lines and human primary cells
- ELISA (binding ELISA and blocking ELISA), FACS and other immunoassays
- Cell-based assays (reporter cell lines, luciferase assays, cytotoxicity determination, proliferation assays, etc)
- EC50 & IC50 determination, Dose-Response curves
- Experience working with antibodies and proteins (transduction/transfection, over-expression, tags, purification, affinity chromatography)
- Analytical methods for proteins characterization: capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS), size-exclusion chromatography (SEC), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and dynamic light scattering (DLS).
EducationCompleted bachelor or master studies in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology or similar.Skills
- Highly motivated and driven to learn about Bioassay and antibody characterization.
- Strong team player with ability to communicate effectively.
- Good organization skills.
- Advanced level in English required.
Requirements
- Start date for internship: May 2025 to June 2025.
- Minimally 6 daily working hours on Almirall site.
- Length of internship: 11 or 12 months
- Registration in a Spanish university or academic institution required.
