About the Role:

The Trading Team is a key enabler for all interest rate and foreign exchange activity in AIB, meeting the needs of the bank and its customers in Ireland and UK by ensuring access to the wholesale market, providing a deep pool of liquidity and efficient pricing across a range of FX and interest rate products, including spot FX, FX derivatives, interest rate swaps and interest rate options.

This exciting role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team operating in fast moving markets. They will engage with a wide range of internal customers across AIB’s Customer Treasury Services, Corporate Banking, Banking Book, Issuance and Funding & Liquidity teams in our Irish, UK and US jurisdictions. The successful candidate will also interact on a daily basis with AIB’s interbank counterparties on the wholesale markets. This role within the trading team involves applying clear standards of professionalism in all activities.

The team provides specialist knowledge in support of AIB’s external customer base, ensures market leading pricing and professional dealings across all products, and has sole responsibility for mitigation of the resultant risk in the wholesale markets.

The team works closely with our partners across various business units to support the bank’s customer offering, liquidity and funding activities, structural interest rate hedging programme, fixed income portfolio hedging, issuance hedging and management of other balance sheet risks, providing optimal risk management solutions and ensuring activity is executed in line with relevant regulatory requirements.

Wholesale financial markets have become increasingly impacted by regulatory, conduct and political developments in recent years, such as EMIR, MiFID, UMR, Global FX Code, Brexit etc. These developments are evolving and the team are central to AIB’s response to the ever changing landscape and challenges that impact the business.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

-Be an integral member of a team with a key role in the management of market risk in the Trading Portfolio within approved risk parameters.
-Support internal and external customer requirements across a range of approved products.
-Ensure ongoing access to markets through interbank counterpart relationship management.
-Achieve a challenging income plan through generation of stable trading income and leveraging flows to enhance returns for Treasury.
-Work closely with our Risk and Finance partners ensuring good information flow and efficient and accurate reporting.
-Contribute to relevant working groups that relate to financial market products and initiatives.
 

What you will bring:

-Experience (3+ years) in banking, e.g. Treasury, Treasury Operations, Finance, Risk, Credit or related area.
-High motivation with a track record of meeting goals and targets in a timely and efficient manner.
-Strong interpersonal skills, building effective relationships and working as part of a team.
-Ability to identify and manage risks within approved risk parameters.
-Relevant degree and/or professional qualification desirable.
-Good understanding of bank risk dynamics and international financial markets.
-Experience in wholesale financial markets/products is desirable.
-An interest in and knowledge of economic and political trends which determine and influence Monetary Policy of the main Central Banks (i.e. Eurozone, USA, UK).
-Location: Dublin (office attendance minimum 4 days a week).
