We’re looking for a Technical Solutions Engineer who will be invaluable to our UK Rolling Stock (RS) Customer Services (CS) Business. You’ll work with the Digital Operations team to identify and lead maintenance improvement opportunities on a system-by-system basis. You will collaborate with AMA and Operations teams across 13 locations to transform rail vehicle maintenance from time/mileage-based to a predictive system over the next five years. You will be responsible for setting up and operating a Fleet Control Centre, driving AVIS MRX systems for decision making, and integrating digital tools across all depots. Your key objectives will include embedding digitally driven maintenance into core processes, redefining Vehicle Maintenance Instructions, and championing data-driven, condition-based approaches. In this role, you will act as a project engineering interface, working with AMA, CS Engineering, and RS Engineering teams to optimise resources and improve profitability through a proactive digital maintenance strategy.

You’ll make a difference by

• Identifying and prioritising performance improvement opportunities on a fleet and system basis.

• Defining a structured approach to transition from time/mileage-based exams to automated inspections and pre-emptive interventions.

• Supporting the development of technical strategy for connectivity, on-train architecture, signal generation, and train software.

• Translating system performance opportunities into actionable plans for downstream systems and applications.

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with RS HQ and managing technical and engineering dependencies.

• Leading the adoption of digital tools and techniques to implement data-driven maintenance and predictive maintenance strategies.

Your success will be grounded by

• Demonstrable experience in Fleet Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and Engineering change.

• Proven track record of implementing digital solutions in an operational environment.

• Leadership of major change and transformation programmes, including mindset and cultural shifts across diverse demographics.

• Strong understanding of operational business systems.

• Ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
