We are seeking a dedicated professional to join a forward-thinking educational setting where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs. This role requires a compassionate and adaptable individual with experience in Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and speech and language delays. Here, you’ll work closely with students, tailoring lessons and resources to cater to a variety of learning styles and needs, ensuring each child feels supported and encouraged.Key Responsibilities:
- Modify lesson plans to suit various abilities and learning styles, ensuring each student is engaged and supported.
- Manage behaviour effectively, using visual aids and consistent routines to provide stability for students.
- Work on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and across the classroom, adapting your approach as needed.
- Support speech and language development through tailored exercises and interactive activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate and deliver high-quality support for students.
- Encourage positive behaviour and a constructive learning environment within the classroom.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
- Previous experience working with children who have special educational needs.
- Experience supporting students with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, PDA, and speech and language delays.
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
- The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils.
- Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
- Qualifications in education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
