Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching AssistantLocation: Bournemouth, DorsetSalary: Competitive, dependent on experienceContract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (with possible permanent contract)About the Role:We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school in Bournemouth. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a variety of learning needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN, working closely with class teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of differentiated learning activities and tasks.
  • Support students with personal care or medical needs, where required.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive engagement.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and caring attitude.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to the varying needs of students.
  • Knowledge of SEN provisions, including autism, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties, would be an advantage.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
