Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Mixed Reception and Year 1 Class
Hours: Part-time, Wednesday, Thursday, and FridayWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide 1:1 support for pupils with special educational needs in a mixed Reception and Year 1 class. Working closely with children with autism and other SEN needs, you will play a vital role in helping them access the curriculum and reach their potential. Starting as soon as possible, this part-time position offers an excellent opportunity to join a caring and professional educational setting.Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with a variety of SEN needs, including autism, within the classroom.
• Assist in modifying lessons and activities to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
• Help establish and maintain consistent routines to support pupil engagement.
• Implement behaviour management strategies as required to promote a positive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with teaching staff to ensure seamless support for the child’s needs.
• Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with the pupils to encourage their progress and confidence.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

• Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
• Experience supporting pupils with autism and other SEN needs in an educational setting.
• A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
• The ability to remain calm in challenging situations and respond to the needs of the pupils.
• Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
• Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
