Position SummaryWhy Join our Team?The European Public Affairs (EPA) Office monitors EU policy & law, including a variety of strategic advocacy activities towards the EU institutions.The role of “Horizontal Product Sustainability” sits within the “Sustainability” Part of the “EU Policy” Group and will be responsible for all EU sustinability initiatives, including in relation to the impact of EU circular economy initiatives that impact a wide range of Samsung Electronics (SE) products and services at once.EPA’s Sustinability Part is currently involved in monitoring and shaping various ongoing EU policy initiatives related to: product-specific ecodesign initiatives in relation to the EU’s circular economy agenda. While your role will be focused on the EU’s horiztontal product related sustinability initiatives, you will be expected to remain flexible to assist the Sustinability Part in other areas within their remit as necesarry.Beyond the Sustinability Part, EPA’s EU Policy Group also monitors and shapes various ongoing EU initiatives related to: digital & industrial policy. You will be expected to cooperate with these teams as necesarry in relation to your: horizontal product sustinability focus.Role and ResponsibilitiesYour Key Responsibilities:Monitor & sense future EU policies & laws that impact SE’s products & services;Deliver clear information on such EU developments to appropriate HQ teams including Global Public Affairs (GPA) team on a regular basis;Aid the development of SE’s positions on EU policy;Advocate SE’s positions towards key EU policy makers and trade associations;Explain finalised laws to HQ, GPA, legal & compliance teams to ensure effective handover for company preparation.Skills and QualificationsWhat we need for this roleTo be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:Clear understanding of the EU legislative process;Ability to understand EU law and make an assessment of its impact on businesses;Ability to find clarity in the EU legislative process and focus on priorities for the business;Fully comprehensive written english that efficiently explains complex EU law in laymans terms to aid business understanding;Ability to build and shape campagins in reaction to EU legislative developments;Ability to manage various tasks/projects at once with other team members and ensure efficent delivery of goals;Quick thinker;High level of integrity;Open to different ideas;Persuasive;Proactive and enterprising;Ability to asses business goals and set: short; medium and long term priorities;Have an approachable and open mindset to solve problems of the business;Be adaptable to sudden change;Be transparent to all team members in relation to daily activities;University degree (essential);Have at least 3 years experience in EU public affairs (essential);Have experince of working in 1 of the EU institutions (desirable);Have advanced knowledge of English (essential);Have knowledge of 1 other European language (desirable).What do we offer?A career in a dynamic workplace with significant personal responsibility and attractive development opportunities;Optimal support on your career path through learning & development and regular training opportunities;An international company culture;A competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits;Flexible hybrid working;An important role at Samsung; You can make a difference;Becoming part of a fun, small and dynamic team in a big tech company;A challenging and varied job with many personal responsibilities.If you have questions, please send your inquiry to: [email protected]
