Sustainability Manager       

Portugal, Spain, Italy, Lithuania – Hybrid and/or Home based

Position Summary:

As an environmental engineering industry expert, the Sustainability Manager will apply his knowledge and expertise to developing, implementing, or influencing the tools and initiatives that support Bentley Systems strategic priority of empowering Sustainable Developments Goals through the portfolio of products, solutions, services, and partnerships (from now on called “ES(D)G” – a combination of the acronyms ESG + UN’s SDG), enhancing Bentley’s ES(D)G profile both internally and externally, leveraging and promoting “going digital” advancements to improve ES(D)G outcomes. The Sustainability Manager will report to the Director of ES(D)G.

Your Day-to-Day:

Quantify ES(D)G performance:

-Implement and maintain an ES(D)G (“handprint”) quantification and performance assessment for Bentley’s products, solutions and services, based on environmental and business KPIs. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the quantification methodology.
Promote opportunities for increasing ES(D)G performance:

-Product discovery process: work in close collaboration with colleagues from PAG and User Success to a) identify user needs; b) evaluate and recommend environmental technologies, practices, and features for existing or future products (e.g., carbon footprint accounting / embodied carbon / LCA), solutions and services (blueprints); c) promote early adoption, feedback analysis, and success stories on pilot projects.
External and Internal Communications:

-support a communication and engagement plan on the company’s ES(D)G strategy to key internal and external stakeholders:
-Compile annual progress report on ES(D)G (including products, services, success stories, and business-related partnerships and initiatives).
-Supporting User Success, Account Managers, and Sales colleagues with their engagement with users and prospects on sustainability matters
Engaging with marketing teams on communications and activities related to the company’s ES(D)G:

-Yearly review and score “Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure” projects for sustainability consideration.
-Support press articles, interviews (success stories and thought leadership), and position papers.
-Work with the social media team on specific posts and blogs.
-Support the participation (and in some cases, represent Bentley) in relevant sustainability events.

What You Bring to The Team:

-Advanced degree in environmental engineering, sustainability, or environmental sciences or equivalent relevant training and/or work experience.
-At least 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, management, or sustainability.
-Full professional proficiency in English language
-Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and influence across non-direct reporting teams.
-Ability to translate ideas into clear, high-impactful communications.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and develop practical solutions.
-Knowledge and a passion for sustainability
-Background in an engineering organization
-Experience working with partners and users.
-Success in collaborating across multiple teams and levels.
-Comfortable in a complex organizational environment and working on several diverse projects simultaneously, self-manage and prioritize workload.
-Knowledge in LCA
-Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies (GHG reporting, emissions reduction targets)
