The Opportunity 

This is a newly created position which will play a pivotal role in the future of Scott Dunn and our environmental and social impact. The role will further develop and drive the sustainability and Nature Positive Impact Strategy for Scott Dunn, ensuring an integrated approach which aligns with our purpose, core values and aim to travel responsibility and tread lightly, leaving a positive imprint on the world.

Reporting to the Global Product & Strategy Director, this role will lead sustainability efforts across the business and proactively engage with key internal stakeholders, as well as identify ways to engage and educate our supply chain, our industry peers and the guests who travel with us. The role will also oversee our charity partnerships to ensure alignment with Scott Dunn’s Nature Positive Impact Strategy and have a positive impact in the destinations where we travel.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy
  • Further refine and execute the Nature Positive Impact Strategy by establishing and delivering key actions and timelines
  • Establish a set of challenging yet attainable KPIs for to measure progress
  • Work with Scott Dunn’s Senior Project Manager to successfully manage overall project timelines
  • Product
  • Partner with the Product team on the creation and implementation of written policies and practices in the areas of animal welfare, biodiversity, sustainable consumption, and community engagement
  • Work with the Product team to educate our supply chain about Scott Dunn’s Nature Positive commitments
  • Develop Nature Positive criteria for supplier selection
  • Create a Nature Positive supplier code of conduct
  • Review Nature Positive commitments in Scott Dunn’s SLAs
  • Develop criteria for properties to be tagged as an “eco hotel” on Scott Dunn’s website and in Product Base
  • Review experiences in Product Base and remove or update experiences based on Nature Positive policies
  • Review “castle” properties and DMCs against Nature Positive policies; educate or make changes as necessary
  • Develop a strategy for auditing suppliers in addition to or as part of Health & Safety audits
  • Sales & Sales Ops
  • Provide training to Travel Consultants on Nature Positive Impact commitments and policies, including the rationale behind the policies and how to speak with guests on the topic
  • Identify ways to educate guests about Nature Positive Impact commitments
  • Partner with the Sales Ops team on guest docs, including guidance to guests about how to tread lightly, support local communities and report concerns
  • Marketing
  • Partner with the Marketing team on updates to Scott Dunn’s website, including: easy navigation to Nature Positive Impact Commitments, tagging and search capability for eco hotels and Nature Positive experiences, ability for guests to report animal welfare or modern slavery concerns, updates on Scott Dunn’s charity partnerships
  • Partner with the Marketing team to update marketing materials and social media campaigns promoting Nature Positive itineraries
  • People
  • Partner with the People team to update job postings, onboarding materials and induction plans to promote and educate candidates and staff about Nature Positive commitments
  • Identify opportunities to leverage volunteer days as a means towards positive social impact in the cities where Scott Dunn offices are located
  • Internal Communications & Business Practices
  • Educate and regularly update the wider Scott Dunn team about Nature Positive commitments
  • Identify local-level actions to promote and improve sustainable business practices in Scott Dunn’s four global offices (London, New York, San Diego, Singapore)
  • Charity Partnerships
  • Establish selection criteria for charity partnerships and regularly engage with charity partners to support community-led animal protection and nature conversation and restoration activities
  • Set targets and measure impact of charity partnerships
  • Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Liaise with Flight Centre Travel Group on reporting requirements, alignment with FCTG Pathway to Net Zero goals, and information sharing
  • Partner with the Finance team on annual SECR reporting
  • Identify methods/tools to measure and track Scott Dunn’s carbon footprint – once a baseline is established, set targets for improvement in carbon reduction
  • Liaise with landlords across all offices to track office carbon footprint
  • Create Scott Dunn Impact Report to publicly report on Scott Dunn’s commitment and progress on Nature Positive commitments
  • Certification
  • Investigate B Corp certification and utilise B Corp assessment as a framework for continuous improvement

About You 

  • Passion for sustainability
  • Previous experience in sustainability, luxury travel or social responsibility; travel-related product experience highly valued
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically, while executing at a tactical level
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Highly organised and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Experience communicating in a persuasive, credible manner – both in writing, in presentations and verbally
  • Experience analysing and interpreting data
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, cross-regionally and cross-industry to maintain alignment and apply best practice
  • Influencing skills at all levels of an organisation
  • Curious and motivated to learn from external sources, and to create a network of contacts
  • Commercial acumen and ability to negotiate
  • Integrity and ability to represent Scott Dunn professionally in an external setting

Location

We aim to find someone who would be office based in our London, Hammersmith office. This role is envisioned as a part-time (0.8FTE) opportunity.
