Summary About the Position: Serves as the Network Assistant Director, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief of Clinical Operations with responsibility for leading the Clinical Direction of the Network or Defense Health Network. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Responsibilities Identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business plan goals and objectives. Participate in senior leadership business and clinical strategy development and implementation. Build and leverage cross functional collaborative relationships to achieve shared Defense Health Agency Network (DHAN) clinical and business goals. Develop and implement strategic goals related to the quality improvement, management programs and accreditation standards. Assist with analytics and development of Network business plan execution efforts. Provide oversight of Accreditation and Credentialing processes of assigned Military Treatment Facilities of the Network. Provide broad program policy options and policy research that assure clarity of policy direction. Chair or participate in national steering committees designed to plan strategies for basic and translational research programs, design of clinical trial studies, and development and dissemination of educational standards. Perform extensive negotiation and collaboration with the Services and DHA governance bodies. Provide technical oversight for work that is performed and managed by subordinate supervisors based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Plan, organize, and direct analytical studies that target the effectiveness of medical strategies as they apply to the beneficiaries and issues recommendations supported by facts and background information. Provide broad program policy options and policy research that assure clarity of policy direction. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physician (General Practice): Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency with your application package.) Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience/Training: Applicants must possess 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child’s age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
