The EMEA Uber Rides business spans over 40 countries across 3 continents and is one of the main drivers of Uber’s growth and profitability. As a business, we face an outstanding set of opportunities and challenges due to regulatory driven and economic differences in our region.The EMEA Strategy and Planning team works directly for the Regional General Manager of EMEA to shape our strategic approach to the region, implement changes and coordinate actions across Operations, Marketing, Support, and our functional teams. The team has recurring responsibilities managing our annual planning cycle & governance, quarterly strategy refresh, and our competitive strategy and response. Additionally, the team runs strategic projects which historically have involved launching new markets, driving the implementation of product/legal or policy changes, managing M&A integrations and working with functions to improve performance!We are looking for an Analyst to support our quantitative strategic competitive efforts. This includes running competitive analysis, competitive response modeling, incentive design & performance evaluation; Someone who is proficient in SQL and Python and comfortable with both a statistical and game theoretical approach to performance management.You will be joining a robust team driving growth at Uber’s largest EMEA business unit and sit at the center of decision making for the region. Join us and make an impact.What the Candidate Will Do * Game theoretical modelling: Work closely with the Ops leadership and S&P teams across EMEA and the U.S. to align and iterate on overall competitive strategy and design

  • Performance management and analysis: build and maintain performance monitoring by market. Build a comprehensive understanding of which actions get results
  • Program/Project Management: Be a resourceful, go-getting multitasker, supporting initiatives across the region by working with cross-functional partners across EMEA and the U.S.
  • Process Improvement: Identify the biggest operational gaps, inefficiencies, and risks using our internal data and deliver solutions
  • Scale: Build, maintain, and communicate detailed reporting models to assist regional, city-level, and expansion efforts, and make data-driven decisions
  • Develop Relationships: Collaborate with other functional areas (Engineering, Business Development, People Operations, Product, Legal, Finance, Rides, Eats, etc.) to ensure efficient and productive working relationships

Basic Qualifications / What the Candidate Will Need:

  • At least 2 years experience in a STEM related job (e.g. data science) or in business intelligence and strategy. Bonus points if you have worked in a start-up
  • A degree in BA or MA in a STEM field or a technically focused degree in economics or psychology.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including knowledge of statistics and proven professional experience in SQL and Python
  • Experience in defining solutions to complex, strategic topics with a deeply analytical and data-driven approach to issues
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, being comfortable having exposure to senior partners and cross-functional teams
