POST CONTEXT/POST SUMMARY:Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) provides an integrated Strategic Effects framework, employing a multi-domain and multi-region focus to create a 360-degree approach, with the flexibility to enable, upon direction, a seamless transition from Baseline Activities and Current Operations (BACO) up to the Maximum Level of Effort (MLE). SHAPE supports SACEUR in fulfilling his terms of reference, as directed by the North Atlantic Council.The Support Directorate is responsible for directing, monitoring and co-ordinating the implementation of Integrated Resource Management (IRM) activities and staff functions at all levels of command across Allied Command Operations (ACO).The Joint Medical Division (JMED) provides medical cross-cutting authority, direction and sets the requirement at the strategic level for all aspects of medical support.The JMED Division is responsible for ensuring medical force health protection across Allied Command Operations (ACO).The ACO/JMED division oversees, directs, sets policies and plans all medical and health services support related issues and is the operational focus for the ACT medical transformational activity to NATO.Principal DutiesThe incumbent’s duties are:1. Promulgates regular review of medical interests within all SHAPE exercise design and execution activities.2. Provides ACO Medical liaison and contributes to JWC Stavanger for all exercise incident scripting.3. Contributes as a Medical liaison to the STEADFAST series Exercise Planning Group (EPG) and Capabilities Planning Team (CPT).4. Provides training liaison to JFCs and CCs during exercise workups and execution.5. Provides input to exercise lessons identified/lessons learned into actionable initiatives within the NATO Medical Community.6. Assists the primary Medical Lessons Learned Coordinator.7. Plans and participates in exercises on strategic level.8. Supports MDSOC with SME advice for training.Special Requirements and Additional Duties1. The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries up to 180 days.2. The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organization at the same grade without there being any change to the contract.Essential QualificationsA. Professional/Experience1. Minimum of 1 year of experience with activities that involve integrating all aspects of medical support in the exercise planning and execution process at strategic, operational or tactical level.2. Minimum of 1 year of experience with activities associated with the Lessons Identified/Lessons Learned process or experience as a Medical Lessons Learned Officer of Primary Responsibility.3. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Operational Planner or knowledge of the Comprehensive Operations Planning process at the tactical, operational level or higher headquarters level.B. Education/TrainingUniversity Degree in a Medical support discipline, healthcare management or health care administration, sustainment or related discipline and 1 year function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 2 years post related experience.C. LanguageEnglish – SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).DEsirable QualificationsA. Professional Experience1. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an exercise planning role.2. Experience in scripting of exercises in a medical setting.3. Experience in the preparation of routine correspondence, proof reading material for accuracy, compiling material for publication and performing other related administrative duties.4. Contribution to Objectives: The work consists of developing realistic, medical exercise scenarios and scripting for NATO exercises and coordinating or assisting in the Lessons Identified/Lessons Learned process involving all aspects of medical support.ContractThe successful candidate will fill this post as a Project Related NATO International Civilian (PLN) with a three-year definite duration contract within the NATO 2030 Agenda.
