We work closely with the Organisational Development team and other HR teams to ensure staff at King’s are supported at all stages of their employment. This role will also contribute to our Disability Inclusion Action Plan which is a shared plan covering students, staff and cross cutting challenges.Support, workplace adjustments and development opportunities are available to all staff at King’s. Our Organisational Development team offers a wide range of courses and activities to support your personal and professional development.About the role:The Disability Support Advisor plays a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and advocacy for staff with disabilities. The advisor will provide advice and training to ensure disabled staff have the workplace adjustments and support they require. They will also need to work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to development opportunities, services, and facilities. This role requires a deep understanding of disability-related issues, strong communication skills, and a passion for promoting inclusivity.You will be required to put forward recommendations on managing more complex situations, having regard to their impact and consequences. You will be expected to identify gaps in information and conduct analyses to solve/resolve problems and issues with short-term consequences.You will need to liaise with stakeholders across the university and coordinate activities across a number of subsections of a School/Department/University. The work will involve encountering changing priorities and differing situations.This is a full time and you will be offered an indefinite contract.About you:To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria * Degree, HND, NVQ 4 qualified or equivalent in relevant subject/relevant formal training, plus relevant experience in similar or related roles.
Desirable criteria * Knowledge of common assistive technology and software used by disabled employees and experience providing training on assistive software.
