Purpose:
The primary role of the Product Performance lab in Boston Scientific Clonmel is to support the new product teams to identify and characterize materials and/or technologies to support the development and commercialisation of our next generation products. The team is also responsible for the execution of failure analysis testing on-site.
Key Lab Capabilities include:
CT X-ray, SEM, DSC, Rheology, Surface Profilometry, FTIR, Instron tensile testers. Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects.

-Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential technologies, materials, processes and products.

-Plans and executes laboratory research to prove feasibility of concepts.
-Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and contributes to scientific literature and conferences.
-Participates in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications.
-Consults and interacts with outside and inside experts.
-May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
-Write and submit professional articles for technical journals.
Requirements:
-Hons BSc degree in a Technical Discipline (Material Science, General Science, Chemistry, Physics, Polymer Science, Analytical Science etc.)
-3-4 years relevant industry or equivalent experience
-Experience with coating technologies advantageous but not required
-The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, while possessing strong team player characteristics.
