Your ‘day to day’

As Multi Physics Modelling Engineer/Senior Engineer, you will report to the Manager Multi Physics Modelling and will be part of our Modelling team within Design and Change Control department for Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and the validation of internal customized OpenFoam code to simulate Heat not Burn product performance.
  • Apply and develop new modelling techniques, create know-how and tools to develop products and processes from Idea Generation to Prototype.
  • Ensure an optimal transfer of knowledge from the multi physics modelling team to Industrialization and Quality Departments. Ensure the proper technical skills application throughout the whole Project life cycle.
  • Pro-actively lead multi physics modelling projects to meet future product development objectives by achieving the technical and quality requirements with timeliness, to support Key PMI business parameters (Innovation, Productivity and Speed to Market).
  • Be responsible for the support in the development and problem solving for product, process and devices using multi physics modelling techniques, in particular thermo-fluid dynamics or chemical kinetics.
  • Define and analyze critical parameters of products, devices or materials, in order to identify their impact on performances, quality or process efficiency.
  • Define and conduct analysis on preliminary design with statistical methods applied to modelling through the definitions of key parameters and its interactions (DOE & ROBUST DESIGN). Responsible of product feasibility study phase report.

Who we’re looking for:

  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Aerospace / Aeronautics / Material / Energetic / Chemistry) or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics;
  • Minimum 3/8 years experience in multi physics simulation (Fluid Dynamics) and OpenFoam code development or use, preferably in Product Development Industries;
  • Proficient use of: OpenFoam, Fluent, Matlab;
  • Knowledge of one programming language: C; C++; Python;
  • Experience with MS Office Package, AutoCAD, MS Project;
  • Problem solving and innovative approach; Ability to work in team; proactiveness and action orientation; autonomy; analytical thinking; priority setting; communication skills;
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.
