Spiritual Life Coordinator

Reports to: Secondary School Principal / Chief Community Officer

Purpose: Responsible for supporting the spiritual, social, and emotional well-being of students and staff.

Role Summary:

The Spiritual Life Coordinator (SLC) plays a crucial role in promoting the spiritual well-being of students and staff, regardless of their faith or beliefs. The SLC should be able to provide support for a wide range of issues affecting the school community and communicate effectively with diverse individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spiritual and Emotional Well-being:
  • Plan and coordinate campus-wide events focused on spiritual growth and emotional wellness.
  • Create opportunities for staff development through conversations, tools, and retreats.
  • Provide support for mental health and on-campus engagement.
  • Offer pastoral care and guidance to students and staff in challenging situations.
  • Refer students and staff to appropriate services when needed.
• Community Building:
  • Support students and staff in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote cooperation, mutual respect, and understanding of diversity.
  • Organise extracurricular Christian activities for secondary students.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with principals and the Chief Community Officer to identify support needs and develop appropriate strategies.
  • Collaborate with external providers to access necessary resources and services.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Christian counselling (preferred), counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Experience: Three years of experience working in a school or educational setting, preferably with a focus on student well-being.
• Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse populations.
• Experience in providing pastoral care and support.

• Commitment to cultural sensitivity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources.

Note: All services provided by the Spiritual Life Coordinator must align with local laws, be approved by the Principals/CCO, have appropriate parental/guardian consent, and be voluntary for student participation.
