Within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) organization, the T&I Operational Excellence department has the purpose to drive and maximize the value creation of the following important functionalities and initiatives: EHSS, Operations and Maintenance, T&I processes & Innovation Support, Portfolio Management, External Collaborations and Special Projects.Within Europe, the Europe Assets Management T&I department has a focus on the research centers in Geleen, Wilton, Bergen op Zoom and Cartagena. The scope of work is really varied and dynamic, including all the different scales of development. It ranges from labs, testing and applications labs, mini plants to bigger pilot plants.To support STC Europe EHSS team in achieving these objectives we are looking for an EHSS specialist / engineer based in Geleen. The EHSS specialist / engineer is a member of the STC Europe EHSS team. He/she reports to the EHSS manager STC Europe. He/she works with multiple T&I functions across the STC Geleen location and satellite centers in Europe, with Brightlands Chemelot Campus and multiple in- and external Service Providers. The EHSS specialist / engineer also works and interacts with the other Operational Excellence T&I regions and centers globally to leverage experience and best practices.If you are ready to take up the challenge and join the vibrant T&I community, apply for this job posting.JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and support the T&I community to achieve and maintain outstanding EHSS performance objectives.
  • Ensure that Environment, Health, Safety & Security standards are met at T&I (SHEMS/OMS & Legislation).
  • Provide professional advice and actively support T&I organization in striving towards continuous improvement of the overall EHSS management.
  • Lead together with the team towards a proactive/generative level in EHSS culture.

MAIN TASKS

  • Lead improvement initiatives in the field of EHSS, with regard to processes and procedures as well as behavioral and culture aspects for improving the EHSS performance and driver of the EHSS improvement plan and strategy.
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement regarding EHSS, defines and drives improvement programs and activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant EHSS laws, regulations and best practice and translating EHSS legislation and company guidelines for implementation in the STC Geleen (e.g. SHEMS/OMS, Site Regulation, Brightlands Chemelot Campus Regulation, etc.).
  • Investigation and analysis of incident and observation reports including advice on improvement actions.
  • Hold a position of expertise in relation to and assessing substances and exposure to substances.
  • Act as a OMS (Operations Management System) Element leader/Sub Element Administrator.
  • Actively participate in various consultations such as EHSS meetings, lab rep meeting.
  • Implement and support Corporate initiated initiatives.
  • Conduct thematic inspections and safety operation rounds in order to verify and discuss EHSS behavior in practice, actively conveying/passing on information about EHSS standards by highlighting (un)safe situations and activities and providing feedback on these.
  • Ensure compliance to overall company guidelines, coordinates on behalf of T&I the audits review and their follow up.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical HBO (Bachelor equivalent) in environmental, health, safety science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or a related field or equivalent working and thinking level.
  • HVK or preventieadviseur niveau 1 training with 5 years work experience (or MVK with extensive work experience and the willingness to follow a HVK training) in a comparable position and working environment in chemical industry, pharma, healthcare, etc. Experience with laboratories and pilot plants is a plus.
  • Tactical and strategic communication skills and able to act at different levels of the organization (internal and external) as an EHSS representative of SABIC.
  • Able to work in a highly matrixed global organization. Ability to engage and inspire the different stakeholders towards common EHSS ambitions and goals on standards and culture.
  • Extensive incident investigation skills such as root-cause-analysis.
  • Provide solicited and unsolicited advice to management on EHSS aspects.
  • Experience in setting up and providing training.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Being an enabler and team worker.
  • Experience in leading projects independently.
  • Being motivated and passionate about EHSS.
  • Excellent skills of the Dutch and English language, both written and oral.
