Are you enthusiastic for software development, and do you want to help securing people and keep the world safer through advanced technology?Do you have a clear thirst for knowledge, which only a complex work within Multi Domain Systems (MDS) can satisfy?What about your own development … do you want to be challenged and mentored to grow, and use your (untapped) potential even more?If at least two “Yes” – please read on and get in touch 🙂The job descriptionAs a java software engineer in the Combat & Self Protection team, you will collect and refine knowledge, partake ownership in design and architecture, as well as being an important sparring partner for colleagues in and outside your team.With your right hand you will be working with java, using, and promoting object-oriented best practices and design patterns like SOLID – while you juggle large multi-threaded systems, in a growing extend of distributed components with your left hand (or vice versa).Your responsibilities will cover:

  • Translate customer needs, system enablers, and stubborn bugs, into great code.
  • Cover the code (partly) with unit tests and refactor code to make it more testable.
  • Challenge and be challenged by system engineers and team testers (and other specialists).
  • Try your code in a staging environment emulating our customers setup.
  • Potentially visiting our customers and help them test our software on the vessels.
  • Be one of our experts when planning new projects with customers and colleagues.

  • Experience with software development through the steps of high-level requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification.
  • An understanding of modern design principles, parallel programming, and proper thread handling/synchronization.
  • Practiced code reviews and knowledge sharing with fellow engineers, in a mindset of Continuous Integration / Delivery and trunk-based development.
