We seek a motivated and talented individual to join our software engineering team as an intern for a six-month position. Our team contributes to the TomTom Orbis Map by handling OpenStreetMap data ingest, vandalism detection/prevention, and data delivery to internal customers for further processing.We are a diverse team distributed across five locations and three countries, representing six nations. We provide a well-organized and primarily remote work environment that supports face-to-face gathering opportunities (hybrid) to meet, learn, and mentor. \nWhat you’ll do

  • We work with Azure Cloud and utilize Java/JVM for development projects. We apply principles from data streaming and batch processing (Spark/DataBricks). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software engineering within a dynamic and collaborative environment. We encourage you to apply if you are passionate about software development, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to real-world projects.
  • Deliver an internship project end-to-end (under the guidance of a mentor). Design technical interfaces and solutions based on use cases. Implement proposed solution and deliver it to production having real-world impact.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities
  • Engage in knowledge-sharing and learning sessions with team members

What you’ll need

  • Enrolled in a dutch university for the entire duration of the internship (6 months)
  • Pursuing a master degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Java/Object-oriented programming languages
  • A passion for learning new technologies and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Strong interest in map making and open street map
  • Knowledge about infrastructural code is a big plus
