You’ll be part of a team who provide efficient and effective support at all levels to student leaders and their respective communities. You’ll be an effective networker, communicator and a problem solver, understanding the value that societies & student communities can bring to the experience of students.Societies and Student Communities are the beating heart of Lancaster University, with over 200 student groups delivering activities and opportunities throughout the year. The campus community is an ever vibrant and exciting place to be. If there is something fun happening on campus, you can bet it will be one of our student groups behind it!We are a welcoming and close-knit team with a real drive and enthusiasm for supporting the incredible innovation and diversity of our campus community. We provide day-to-day support for the 1100+ student execs that lead societies and College JCRs.Preferred start date: 16th of September 2024Expected end date: 31thh of July 2025Interview date: 30th of August 2024Location: On the Lancaster University campusHours per week: 8Job DescriptionMajor Duties:

  • To assist with enquiries from all students, particularly those involved in Societies and College JCRs, to provide a comprehensive information service.
  • To assist with general administrative tasks as directed.
  • To collect new contact details and other information from student groups and update our records.
  • To support new society exec members through the Society Re-affiliation Process.
  • To support the delivery of union events such as the Freshers & Refreshers Fairs.
  • Support the delivery of in-person training sessions and workshops for Society & JCR execs.
  • Supporting student groups to market their activity and communicate their successes.
  • To contact societies as directed for all aspects of the collection and dissemination of general information.
  • To process event and room booking queries, and offer support where needed.
  • To collate and prepare documentation for meetings including funding applications.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent Communication skills: Good use of grammar & spelling and accurate conveyance of information.
  • Able to gather information and give effective answers to queries in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Able to assess the nature of a query and respond appropriately and effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and use of MS Word & Excel.
  • Knowledge and use of MS Outlook.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • The ability to learn quickly.
  • Knowledge/Involvement in Student Groups/JCRs. (Desirable)
  • Experience of delivering presentations or workshops. (Desirable)
