Job Description
As a global infrastructure leader we deliver projects of all sizes that support our communities and improve social outcomes for all. Our people and our clients are passionate and clear in their commitment to ensure that the projects we deliver together bring about wider societal benefits than solely the scheme itself.
As our Social Value Lead you will be key in delivering social outcomes on the projects we work on in Transportation. You will work with our pursuit and delivery teams to set out social value commitments and to lead on their successful implementation and measurement.
You will be part of our Transportation Strategy & Growth team supporting all parts of our Transport business; this includes projects across roads, rail, aviation, ports and marine. We work with a diverse range of clients including critical national infrastructure asset owners and local authorities providing full lifecycle services in all transport these areas.
Social Value forms part of Sustainable Legacies, AECOM’s umbrella strategy for delivering our ESG commitments. We have developed our Social Value strategy to align our Social Value activity with our strategic business objectives, embed through our project delivery and technical expertise, and tracking and measuring our positive impact. You will be part of a wider network of specialists in our region committed to embedding and delivering Sustainable Legacies across the Europe & India region.
You need to be able to work independently, with diverse teams and to ensure that Social Value is truly embedded in our pursuits and projects. You will be developing and implementing social value strategies and plans as well as measuring and reporting on the social value of some of the UK’s highest profile projects.
Roles & Responsibilities

Social Value Delivery – Responsible for social value across our Transportation business line supporting our project teams to develop, implement and record Social Value activity for our clients and the communities we operate in

Work Winning – support our Work Winning activities including leading Social Value bid responses, case studies, and social value plans for our projects.

Stakeholder Engagement – drive the Social Value agenda within AECOM, engaging and upskilling our teams and functions to create a culture of embedded social value and high performance. Externally you will engage with clients, industry partners and bodies on Social Value.

Client Relationships – supporting our clients to maximise their Social Value generation and achieve the objectives through design, procurement, and project management. Working with clients to achieve our shared objectives. This could include being the Social Value Lead for large scale projects and client frameworks.

Tracking & Measuring – comfortable using Social Value data and metrics to demonstrate impact, influence decision making and project/annual reporting.

Support the growth of our Social Value offer – contribute to developing our Social Value advisory and consultancy service provision
Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

A genuine passion for improving social outcomes for people and communities
-
Developing and implementing comprehensive and effective social value related plans, strategies or frameworks
-
Measuring social value created by projects including experience of using social value measurement tools
-
Managing projects – including client liaison, reporting requirements and the financial management aspects.
-
Engaging with partners or stakeholders such as employment and educational organisations, social enterprises and charities to develop and maximise social value outcomes.
-
Knowledge and evidenced understanding of the implications of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, PPN 06/20 and other national and devolved legislation in relation to planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration and environmental enhancement schemes.

Independently planning and delivering social value related activities and initiatives for key projects.

Excellent report writing and research skills with a high proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience working on multiple projects and deliverables
-
Working independently with minimal support whilst also contributing to wider team goals.

Communicating at all levels within a business from executive leaders to project delivery teams
-
A degree or equivalent experience or qualification in social value, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, or related subject

Experience working in the built environment sector, ideally transportation and professional services

Experience of responding to tenders and work winning
-
Demonstrable thought leadership around the social value agenda

Demonstrable team working, communication, data analysis and report writing skills

Growing and leading a team of Social Value specialists
