We encourage diverse applicants including individuals of all gender identities, ages, sexual orientations, nationalities, races, religions, beliefs, social and marital status, people with different abilities and all other diversity characteristics and how they work together.The Public Health Department is made up of a group of generalist Health Advisors and medical and public health specialists so as to provide expert support in a range of fields including, apart from SRH/SGBV, infectious diseases, mental health, nutrition, paediatrics, and vaccination as well as epidemiology, health promotion, laboratory, pharmaceutical quality/medical supply, and water/sanitation.With immediate effect our Public Health Department is looking for aSexual and Reproductive Health Specialist (100%)(Preferred Candidate Located in a country with an MSF OCA Ops Desk Presence- Kenya, Germany, Netherlands, UK)POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANISATIONThe Sexual Reproductive Health Specialist reports to the Coordinator of Medical Specialists for the Mother-Child Health group, Public Health Department. They work in close collaboration with other colleagues supporting sexual and reproductive health along with other intersecting specialisations (sexual violence, paediatrics, quality of care, nursing etc)MAIN OBJECTIVEThe overall aim of this post is to provide technical and strategical support to sexual and reproductive health in MSF-OCA projects.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESProvide SRH specialist support to MSF-OCA in order to successfully implement the strategic plan and the MSF SRH policy and strategy. This will include:Provide quality and timely technical support to field staff concerning SRH clinical questionsSupport field teams in the use and analysis of routine data; oversight and analysis of SRH activities and outputs on key indicators so that quality of care can be evaluated and improvement plans can be developed where neededPromote culture of patient safety; support field teams with quality review process including root causes analysis and follow-up of incident reports.Contribute to the development and promotion of middle and long term strategic vision and plan for sexual and reproductive health within the PHD and MSF-OCA along with the practical implementation means and plansAdvocate on SRH policy and quality issues to MSF-OCA operations and other relevant staffMonitor developments in the field of SRH and assess relevance for MSF-OCA field projectsDevelop further networks to enhance MSF-OCA expertise and support for field implementationCollaborate with fellow PHD specialists and colleagues of support departments on cross-cutting issuesGive guidance to and collaborate with SRH-implementer on implementation strategies and priorities.Continuously review progress against the MSF-OCA strategic plan and report on developments in control cycle periods; identify constraints and implementation challenges and recommend measures to overcome themFacilitate implementation of SRH components into MSF-OCA projects through development and updating of appropriate tools (e.g. guidelines, protocols/procedures, training materials, minimum equipment/drugs lists, etc.)Deliver topical module at MSF-OCA generalist courses, and organize and facilitate the various SRH trainings offered.Support SRH operational research in the portfoliosSupport the Human Resources Department in the recruitment, matching and development of relevant international staff (i.e., SRH pool)SUPPORT TO MISSIONSConduct field visits to missions to support quality SRH including basic and emergency obstetric care.Provide field based training and coaching in missions.Brief/debrief midwives and other reproductive health staff in missions ensuring opportunity for topical preparation on SRH care components prior to departure and feedback at end of missionAssist with implementation of SRH services, identify constraints and implementation challenges and recommend measures to overcome themCANDIDATE PROFILEEducation, qualification, and experienceQualified reproductive health specialist (midwife or SRH specialised MD); full and current registration/license with relevant national professional bodyMinimum 3 years independent clinical experience in hospital and/or community care/midwifery, including the recent 2-year period (i.e., clinically current)At least two missions providing SRH care in MSF (or a similar organisation)Commitment and passion for the goals of MSFCoordination and/or project management experience an assetCapacities and skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills; Fluency in English is required, French or Arabic are strongly preferredIs sensitive towards diverse cultural and professional backgroundsEnthusiastic, motivated and independent; able to work with minimal supervisionAble to work under time pressure on various projects and deadlines at any given timeIs innovative, able to lead and coach teams, and produce timely outputsMust be able to visit and support projects at short notice, and willing to spend up to 30% of time in the fieldWe offerWhen based in The Netherlands:
