Join our International Water and Climate Resilience organization as our new Senior Urban Planner/Designer and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.Your new roleAs our new Senior Urban Planner/Designer, you will serve as the day-to-day senior expert or lead of Urban Planning and Design activities for select client segments and programs particularly in the Public and Private Developer market, and take on the discipline lead responsibilities within large scale masterplanning projects. You will work on multi-disciplinary urban development and regeneration projects together with the global Water team-leadership and senior experts and project managers in the business units for Water, Environment & Health, Architecture and Landscape, Transport and Buildings.Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead Urban Planner/Designer, and at times Project Manager of masterplanning projects, with many stakeholders and high technological, contractual, political, and cultural complexity.
  • Facilitation of all phases of masterplanning projects within your technical discipline, with a focus on quality, meeting deadlines, and budgets.
  • Active participation in developing and running interdisciplinary and / or inter-organizational projects.
  • Collaboration and sparring with other technical leads, project managers and colleagues across Ramboll.
  • Development and support of the competence development of Urban Planners and Designers and project employees by creating synergy between performance in the project and development of the team’s professional / personal strengths.
  • Contribute to the development of “best practices” within Urban Planning and Design
  • Communication with the customer’s organization at several levels and encourage and facilitate ongoing dialogue between the participants in the project (clients, partners, authorities and the project group’s employees)
  • Active participation in sales and market-related activities, including screening opportunities, partnering strategies, quotation and active sales as well as maintaining and developing personal customer and partnership relationships. Responsible as key contact for select clients.
  • Leading fundraising for knowledge and innovation projects through applications to foundations in Denmark and internationally
  • At times expected to be a Team Leader, Key Expert or Non-Key expert on IFI water and masterplanning related projects.

Your project specific key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Design and story-telling: Bring urban planning and design ideas to the table, build upon other designs, and utilize clear and concise story-telling techniques
  • Visualizations and sketches: Support on projects and tenders in developing meaningful sketches, cross sections, visualizations, etc.
  • Desktop analysis: Many of our projects include desktop research, landscape analysis, data gathering & review, synthesizing reports, etc.
  • Communication: You will help formulate presentations, sketching, minutes of meetings, workshop materials, project references, power points, technical memos, proofreading of reports and deliverables. etc.
  • Technical Discipline Support: Support on projects and tenders in preparing land use strategies, densities, urban programming, active mobility strategies, etc.
  • GIS-analysis: Support our project portfolio through the application of spatial data analysis.

  • In-Depth knowledge and experience in the public and private urban masterplanning market (clients, competitors, project pipelines, etc)
  • Understanding and ability to contribute on all phase from vision, through conceptual design and experience in stakeholder and community engagement strategies.
  • Management and control of stages of the projects, relating to your expertise.
  • Broad understanding of the challenges within Sustainability, Resilience, complete communities, liveability, climate adaptation, integrated infrastructure, Water driven planning, urban mixed use master planning.
  • Insight into your own strengths and limitations regarding management behaviour and ability to exercise situational leadership, within your discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Danish an advantage, but not a requirement)

To succeed in the job as an Urban Planner/Designer, it is important that you are committed and outgoing with a natural interest in understanding our customers’ issues and needs. You participate actively in the process of finding the right local solutions based on inputs from several disciplines and stakeholders, and you take pride in delivering a high professional level, that things are in order and ensuring good project finances within your discipline. You are an excellent communicator both in writing and orally and like to be the one who shares your knowledge between clients and project teams. You are a team player who is curious about the competencies of others to find the right team of colleagues and partners for the benefit of our clients. Specifically, this means that you:

  • Develop and comply with project plans, quality requirements and budgets for the individual projects and tasks
  • Facilitate high customer satisfaction (CSS), through successful delivery of your technical expertise on projects
  • Facilitate high employee satisfaction on projects (measured by the annual employee satisfaction survey ESES), through collaboration, empowerment, and knowledge sharing within your technical expertise on projects
  • Contributes to new sales and additional sales, through assisting Project Managers and senior management team, by helping to prepare bids
  • Is visible both when it comes to profiling projects and branding Ramboll
  • Has a solid network with external partners and builds a good internal network.
  • Very good communication skills in English
  • Degree in Urban Planning or equivalent
  • 15+ years of experience in urban Planning/Design
  • Proven experience working internationally on large scale urban developments
