Learn more about Splunk careers and how you can join our journey!The Software Test Lab Manager will ensure that Splunk and Cisco enterprise software solutions can demonstrably deliver outstanding differentiated customer experiences. You will be responsible for leading the team that builds and maintains a comprehensive cloud-based, end-to-end software testing environment to validate customer outcomes, use cases and user persona-based day-in-the-life stories that bring these customer experiences to life. You have a strong background in software testing and engineering team management, with experience in large data platforms and familiarity with security and observability practitioner personas and use cases.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Management:

  • Recruit, lead and mentor a team of software test engineers to demonstrably prove the value and usability of our solutions based on real-world customer situations
  • Define the Lab Charter including detailed Lab Team goals, processes, procedures, deliverables and communications, plus Lab access rules, policies and auditing procedures
  • Set Lab Team priorities, assign tasks, provide guidance and ensure efficient team performance
  • Report Lab Team deliverables, progress against goals and Lab metrics to senior management
  • Ensure innovations and best practices are being brought into the Lab and followed by the Team
  • Foster a positive open, collaborative and innovative team working environment

Collaboration: Work closely with product and technical marketers, solution engineers, security and observability analysts and strategists, vertical market specialists and the competitive team to understand testing and validation requirements on behalf of their respective user communities.The Lab Team will be responsible for the following:

  • Test environment setup, management, security, reporting and auditing
  • Test procedure creation and validation with cross-functional teams
  • Dataset creation, automated data generation and test automation
  • Use case validation, customer-centric testing and day-in-the-life story testing
  • Production of a wide variety of provable Technical Marketing deliverables for Technical Sellers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science/Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in software engineering, software testing or quality assurance, including 3+ years previous experience managing a team of 5+ engineers or testers.
  • Technical Leadership Skills: Project and team management of technical engineering / testing processes. Understanding of technical terminology and tools common to software test labs.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex requirements and break large problems into their component parts.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure high levels of accuracy in all documentation and communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in data engineering, information security, cloud services, or software testing.
  • Experience: Prior experience working and managing teams in a software test laboratory.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms and big data technologies, including AI.
  • Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Splunk solutions or similar industry platforms a plus.
