Location: The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, Fusehill Street Campus, CarlisleAbout the role:(PCSM) is a unique partnership between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria to establish a new medical school in Carlisle. The School will offer a four-year graduate entry programme, with the first cohort of 58 students entering in August 2025.We seek to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow in Public Health and Research Methods to the academic team based in Carlisle, who shares our passion and commitment to designing an innovative education experience for graduate-entry medical students within an environment that promotes multi-professional learning.What you would be doing:The Senior Teaching Fellow will focus on public health research methods and statistics, teamwork and leadership skills, and influencing the wider determinants of health, whilst supporting development and delivery of wider prevention and healthcare delivery content. The role will support curriculum development, the creation of teaching materials, the establishment of assessment and monitoring processes, the delivery of teaching and assessment of the curriculum from August 2025.A key responsibility will be to oversee the recruitment and coordination of community research projects and support the project supervisors. The projects will run longitudinally through years 1 and 2 of the programme, and are carried out in small groups. The projects are selected by the students and are focused on community health, involving stakeholders from around the county.What we are looking for:
- An MSc. or PhD in public health, behavioural science, or similar, and demonstrable expertise in public health research methods and statistics.
- Evidence of teaching of public health research methods and statistics, quality improvement, and influencing the wider determinants of health through a range of teaching styles and formats.
- Evidence of practical experience in application of public health research methods and statistics, quality improvement, and/or influencing the wider determinants of health.
- Evidence of planning, design and development of curricula, learning materials and/or assessments, that promote deep learning in students with a variety of learning styles.
- An understanding of relevant educational theory and good practice relating to student learning, teaching, assessment and course design in a relevant discipline in Higher Education.
