Main Responsibilities
We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in networking to strengthen our team in Berlin that takes care of the data plane in our ST Engineering iDirect satellite communication products. You as a developer will work with an outstanding team of experts and developers with the goal of delivering a premier IP-based satellite communication product making it possible to deliver voice, video, and data anywhere in the world.
Our teams use Scrum and Kanban for Agile software development, and as such we work in diverse teams where thoughts and ideas are shared and collaboration is actively encouraged. This gives team members the opportunity to work across products, getting to understand exactly how products operates, and how it fits within the larger iDirect communication solution.

Implementing (coding, bug fixing, and testing). It may also include:

Translating high-level requirements into architectures
-
Design analysis
-
Involvement in the complete development cycle: test automation, utilizing and developing scripts and programs for testing and interacting with developed software

Documenting (architecture, code, solutions, and test cases, following up whether the implementation is in line with the original defined architecture and requirements)

Aspire towards a thorough understanding of satellite communication technologies and components

Work closely with our developers, Linux system engineers, quality assurance and customer support engineers
Your profile and qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
Professional Qualities:
-
Profound knowledge of networking (LANs, routing, switching, TCP/IP, supporting services)

In-depth understanding of the OpenWrt framework and configuration
-
Proficiency of C/C++ for embedded systems
-
Scripting skills in Python/Bash as well as CLI usage
-
Experience in developing and troubleshooting in a Linux environment
-
Good software design skills using proven and best practice design methodologies & related principles: modular/OO (Object Oriented) programming, re-usability, unit tests, continuous integration, code refactoring

Strong problem-solving and communications skills
-
Conversational in English, documentation, and writing skills
-
Ability to work in a team environment, and leverage additional resources as needed

5+ years of experience programming on Linux
-
SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), Kanban and/or Scrum
-
Jenkins build environment and JIRA issue tracking
-
Git, BitBucket, Mercurial
-
System administration on RedHat or CentOS Linux systems
-
Basic experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Wind River, Docker, Kubernetes)
