Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/.Pharmaceutical and Material Sciences is a department of Chemical & Pharmaceutical Development & Supply (CPDS) of Janssen Research & Development. Within the department resides the High-Throughput and Preformulation Sciences (HTPS) team, leading activities to understand the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of potential drug candidates and their formulations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, lead and perform activities in the High-Throughput and Preformulation Sciences labs related to characterization of physicochemical and biopharmaceutics properties of drug substance and drug product, starting from the early development stage throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Understand and translate physicochemical properties of new compounds into early formulation strategies with a strong focus on therapeutic peptides.
  • Troubleshoot any fundamental formulation challenges resulting from the physicochemical properties of the compound as well as excipients.
  • Drive innovation within the team, supporting novel drug delivery modalities including peptide delivery and (ultra) long acting injectables.
  • Actively collaborate with academic and private research organizations and consortia in the field of preformulation, physicochemical characterization and biopharmaceutics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with key stakeholders including Discovery Sciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Developability, Oral Solids Development, Parenterals & Liquids Development…
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team of researchers, internally as well as externally.

Education:

  • Degree in Sciences: Pharmaceutical, Chemistry (analytical/organic), Physics, Engineering or a related science with experience in preformulation, biopharmaceutics or high-throughput physicochemical characterization (PhD or equivalent by experience).

Experience and Skills:Required:

  • Physical and analytical chemistry background preferred, good understanding of the broader pharmaceutical product development picture, including high level principles of preclinical and clinical development is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with supporting different drug delivery modalities, ranging from enabling formulation platforms to localized delivery and long acting injectables…
  • Affinity and insight in experimental activities in pioneering laboratories
  • Interest in learning and applying predictive modeling in the formulation design space
  • Fluent English (both spoken and written), proven experience with scientific reporting.
