About Our Team

Our Cost Management team in Edinburgh are part of the wider regional Cost Management team delivering all aspects of cost management services, covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception, through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase. We have secured places on a number of local and national frameworks and are looking to expand our team to deliver an exciting mix of projects across a range of sectors and clients.

Job Responsibilities

As Cost Manager working within the wider team, you will lead and deliver in all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion.

You will work with an Associate or Director to successfully manage and deliver a number of projects, varying in complexity and typically ranging in value from £5m – £50m+.

You will drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process. Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry.

You will also be responsible for managing and mentoring junior staff to deliver our Cost Management service efficiently and effectively. Core responsibilities include:

  • Feasibility estimates

  • Procurement advice

  • Cost planning

  • Value and risk management

  • Post contract management

  • Fee generation

  • Supporting and developing team members

  • Client engagement

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management

  • Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution

  • Understanding a variety of project types/sizes/sectors. Healthcare, Education, Defence, Commercial, Residential, Industrial sector experience would be advantageous

  • Understanding of SBCC/JCT and NEC standard forms of contract

  • Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on procurement, cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation

  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning

  • Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate

  • Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.

  • Prior experience in project delivery.

  • Prior experience in managing teams internally and externally
