Location: Hammersmith campus although work at other campuses may be required; possibility of some remote workingAbout the role:Are you an organised, proactive individual with demonstrable administrative experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Education Team in the Department of Surgery & Cancer. This key role supports the end-to-end postgraduate journey from enrolment to graduation.What you would be doing:You will join a busy central team which supports over 900 undergraduate, MSc and PhD students across 5 campuses. Critical aspects of the role include the provision of comprehensive, administrative and management support to ensure the efficient delivery and smooth running of our education programmes.You will have particular responsibility to support staff and students on the 1-year MRes Cancer Biology and its associated streams. Our students are enthusiastic, engaging and research-driven, drawn from across the globe; ensuring an outstanding student experience is a significant component of the role. The MRes students undertake their research placement both within Imperial and externally with key education and industrial stakeholders.In addition to managing this multi-stream MRes in Cancer, you will line manage the Postgraduate Education Administrator in the delivery our 1-year intercalated BSc Cancer Frontiers and assist in the development of new learning resources within this suite of Cancer programmes.What we are looking for:The post would suit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated administrator seeking to further their career in this stimulating role in higher education. The ability to work independently, managing a busy workload with competing priorities to tight deadlines is essential, as is attention to detail and accuracy. Line management experience in addition to experience in managing external stakeholder relationships or placement management would be advantageous.Essential requirements

  • The role requires proactive and independent working practices to establish effective working relationships with colleagues both internally within the department/College as well as with external stakeholders & Institutions.
  • Capacity to navigate difficult situations and conflicting views with tact and diplomacy, while having patience to complete tasks thoroughly and achieve necessary outcomes.
