Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior OCS (Overhead Contact System) Engineer to join our Global Rail Systems team in the Katowice, Poland location.

In this role the ideal candidate is a results-driven engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.  Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

As a successful candidate, you will:

-Design OCS layouts, wire tensions, foundations, poles/columns/structures for light rail, commuter rail and streetcar with pantograph as well as streetcar and electrified buses with trolley poles.
-Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design.
-Prepare design reports.
-Develop documents including specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
-Review project submittals and requests for information from contractors.
-Provide installation, testing and commissioning support to clients.
-Management of OCS projects.
 

You bring to the role:

-A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 
-Relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for degree requirements.
-10 to 15 years of experience with dc OCS systems design, including the design of 600 to 1500 volt dc rail as well as 12 to 25 kilovolt AC transit systems 
-Thorough understanding of the relevant European railway standards (EN, IEC, UIC and etc.)
-Professional engineer’s license is an advantage
-Experience with North American and/or European transit/transportation industries is highly desirable.
 

The following skills/experience is a plus:

-Tension and pole/foundation load calculations
-CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation) and OCS design software experience with structural engineering analysis software like STAAD and RISA
-Experience in field testing of OCS systems
-Knowledge of railway traction power systems
-Project management experience
 

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

This position is based in Poland and will support global signalling projects from our Katowice, Poland office.
