About the role:
As an ML research scientist at Owkin, you will have the opportunity to improve medical research using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. In particular, you will develop and apply agent-based approaches on large volumes of multimodal patient data to fuel Owkin’s operating system for target and drug discovery.
You will join the Frontier Research group to participate in long-term research programs on ambitious scientific challenges around the design of AI agents tailored to answer reliably to complex biology analysis requests. In this role, working with interdisciplinary teams, your unique expertise will help to develop agentic pipelines that will identify new drugs faster and more effectively.
In particular, you will:
- Drive the application and development of advanced machine learning methods to advance Owkin’s therapeutic platform
- Maintain a regular scientific watch in machine learning related fields;
- Conduct methodological research in key areas to unlock novel applications, including writing scientific publications and patents.
About you
The successful candidate will have a ‘team-first’ kind of attitude; be independent, curious and detail-attentive; thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; and be fun to work with.
And
- Demonstrated expertise in one of the following fields or related machine learning field, including scientific publications at top ML conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, …):
- LLMs / genAI
- Optimisation
- Sequential Learning
- Strong analytical skills;
- Good command of coding in python and strong grasp of programming best practices
- Passionate about the intersections of healthcare and AI
- PhD in Computer Science-related field (machine learning, applied mathematics, computer science) or equivalent experience;
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch, Jax, etc.) : you have already worked with one of these frameworks for one of your projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; English proficiency
- Highly organized and meticulous about details; capable of tackling complex problems logically and effectively; fun to work with; honest; excited to work hard in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
Preferred qualifications/bonus:
- Post-doctoral or industrial experience;
- Expertise in one of the following subjects, or related ones: reinforcement learning, bayesian optimization, optimal experimental design, agents, optimal transport;
- Experience in target discovery, drug discovery or related activities, with demonstrated impact (high profile publication or industrial application);
- Experience in causality / response to treatment;
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder research projects;
- Experience training large deep learning models;
- Publications in high-impact journals and conferences;
