Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the AP1000 project by preparing studies, piping and instrumentation diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This position will require working with other functions and disciplines in a team environment.
Major Responsibilities:
-Coordinate within the mechanical group and other disciplines/functions independently in developing system designs.
-Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client.
-Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products.
-Support development of project cost and schedule estimates.
-Coaching and mentoring of junior engineers.
Education and Experience Requirements:
-Level 1 – Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant work experience or in lieu of degree 12-14 years of relevant work experience
-Level 2 – Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant work experience or in lieu of degree 14-17 years of relevant work experience
-Must be authorized to live and work in Poland without sponsorship.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
-Related experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
-Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
-Hands-on Microsoft office programs and other computer programs.
-Extensive knowledge and application of ANSI/ASME Codes and Standards including ASME B31.1 or B31.3 and/or international equivalents.
-Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications.
-Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
-Experience in power (nuclear) plant design.
-Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
-Professional Engineering License in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (or international equivalent)
