INTERNAL VACANCY

This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to join our department and lead the team to deliver student focused services for academic appeals, complaints and academic / non – academic misconduct investigations. This role is responsible for ensuring University policies and procedures are followed, students receive an excellent timely service, cases are handled sensitively, and the University continually learns to improve the experience for students. You will be an expert for colleagues across the University to call on to support making decisions and agreeing actions to progress cases in the best interests of students and the University.

Following a review, we are undergoing a period of change, looking at how we can improve the services to students and work in a more efficient and effective way. We are looking for a senior manager who can deliver change in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent communication and networking skills are essential to building effective relationships with students, Schools and other Professional Services staff across the University to ensure our services are delivered with the student experience in mind.

You will be an experienced manager with a proven track record in the delivery of high volumes of casework and high-quality services to customers. We are ideally seeking candidates that have relevant experience and have knowledge in at least one of the casework types you will be responsible for – academic appeals, complaints, academic and non-academic misconduct.  The ability to quickly report on cases, gain insights from investigations and identify improvements is critical to our ethos of continual improvement.

You will be responsible for overseeing all casework types, reviewing student reports through our online system, allocating casework, preparation of risk assessments and liaison with Schools and other departments. You will work very closely with the Head of Student Conduct and Investigations.

This is a challenging and rewarding role which offers a real opportunity to make a big difference to the student experience at the University of Nottingham. If you have the skills and experience we are looking for and are passionate about delivering a student-focused service, we would love to hear from you.

This is a fixed term opportunity to cover maternity leave and is available from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025. This is a full-time role (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work less than full time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work less than full time and the number of preferred hours. Arrangements for job share may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

For any applicants within Registry and Academic Affairs requesting a secondment, please seek the permission of your line manager and your Associate Director, prior to application. Your Associate Director will provide a written summary of the approval and any conditions agreed, which you will need to email to Su Hudson, Manager (RAA Recruitment) at [email protected] by the given deadline.

Interviews will be held week commencing 15 April 2024.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Hina Patel, Associate Director – Customer Service via email, [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
