This hands-on role requires extensive in-house advisory experience, especially in contract negotiation and business support. You will be instrumental in standardizing and developing Maersk’s contractual frameworks, terms, and end-to-end customer contracting processes.As a key legal contact, you’ll provide day-to-day advice on product-related contracts and support the development of Maersk’s product suite. Responsibilities include guiding sales and product teams globally, collaborating with regional legal teams, and building a unified legal support function. You’ll also support the Head of Customer Contracting in implementing global governance and driving contracting across various logistics services encompassing both domestic and international transportation, contract logistics, customs brokerage, project cargo, and additional value-added services.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the global lead, trusted legal advisor and Legal Business Partner serving as the customer contracting subject matter expert for a number of productsAssist the business in their sales activities and handle negotiations with Maersk’s largest customers as may be required and any post-sales discussions on a product and global level. Provide hands-on support to the contract governance team and assist and support our regional legal organisationAct as the trusted legal advisor and subject matter expert to assist the product development team in refining existing and developing new productsEnsure a successful and sustainable adherence of customer contracting elements at a global level such as: policies and procedures, communication, risk assessments, contract reviews, conduct in-person trainings to target audienceDrive and lead customer contracting initiatives, roll-outs and agenda by establishing and maintaining engaged and constructive relationships with internal stakeholders for ensuring solutions that match and align business and legal needsLead projects on a global and product level to be the single point of contact between the business and Center to provide recommendations for complex bespoke contractual setups, including liaising with the regional teams and Center teams in finance, insurance, product and taxProvide guidance to the global organisation in relation to transport documents across the entire portfolio, and liaise with the internal stakeholders as may be required in relation to parties, shipments, commodities and transactions
Create and conduct legal training to relevant employees (in person, webinars and/or e-learning)Advise stakeholders on legal trends, developing areas of the law, industry trends and related risks that may impact the Maersk’s operations and/or servicesParticipate in external forums and work groups as a representative of MaerskWhat we are looking forBachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in law or an equivalent legal qualification related discipline is preferredLicensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the jurisdiction in which the license is issuedSolid experience in a legal role focusing on complex commercial transactions, preferably with a mix of in-house and law firm experience .Experience in the logistics, supply chain and/or transportation industry is preferrable but we will consider relevant experience in other industries as wellHighly effective communications style, translating complex legal issues into readily understandable assessments and actionable recommendations that deliver business value in the context of global business strategiesExperience with drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts related to logistics, transportation, procurement and complex commercial transactions, and substantive experience with industry-related regulatory mattersExperience in building, updating and refining contract templates customized to meet specific needs and requirements of business, while incorporating experience-informed negotiating positionsExperienced and successful trainer and facilitatorStrong analytical, communication, negotiation, presentation, and strategic decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, an inquisitive mind, and the ability to connect and work effectively with multiple, diverse, cross-functional stakeholders, legal organization, third parties and customersAbility to work independently while working collaboratively within a local and global team environmentCommercial mind-set, drive to deliver high quality resultsAbility to work across culturesExcellent written and verbal skills in EnglishMaersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
