The School of Biodiversity One Health and Veterinary Medicine is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in One Health Microbiology (Research & Teaching Track) to carry out high-quality research in microbiology that takes a One Health perspective studying viral, bacterial or fungal systems. Research interests could include but are not limited to host-pathogen interactions, pathogen epidemiology, anti-microbial resistance (AMR), microbial genomics, the development of novel antimicrobial agents and strategies, or any other area of microbiology with demonstrated relevance to animal/human health and a broader One Health context.You will develop and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations, secure external funding, publish high-impact research findings in peer-reviewed journals and supervise research students and staff. You will also deliver engaging lectures and design rigorous laboratory exercises in microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and in so doing foster their intellectual growth and scientific curiosity. By integrating research and teaching, provide undergraduate and post graduate students with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of microbial systems, and preparing them to address current and emerging challenges in the field.The School of Biodiversity One Health and Veterinary Medicine is home to researchers studying organismal biology and animal health across a diverse range of systems, approaches and disciplines with existing strengths in infectious disease, physiology, ageing, veterinary epidemiology, and evolution among others. You will be based on the University of Glasgow’s Garscube campus, where the majority of veterinary teaching and research infrastructure is located.
